Principal's Message
Welcome to the Laurimar Primary School Internet site. My name is Darryl
Furze and I am delighted to be the inaugural Principal here at
Laurimar. It is both an exciting and challenging time as we all
commence this educational journey together. The sense of community
spirit at Laurimar will be extremely important in our formative years
and a very strong feature of the school's establishing culture in the
months and years to come.
Laurimar PS commenced on the first day of the new school year with 115
students. Growth of the school will be rapid, with early indications
that the school will grow to 800 students in a only few years. It will
be the aim of all staff to help the children settle into their new
school community and build those skills, attitudes and values they will
need to fully participate in the rich educational life our school will
offer.

Laurimar Primary School will be committed to the academic and personal
growth of every student. A focused curriculum, dedication to
innovation and a culture of care, will help us meet this commitment.
Our school will be well resourced in the Victorian Essential Learning
Standards. Great emphasis is placed on the foundation learning areas
of English and Maths, where we will help each child reach their maximum
potential.
A balanced and comprehensive curriculum constantly challenges students
to extend their learning. Our aim will be to challenge students to be
the very best they can be. The skills needed for the 21st century,
which support a love of learning that goes beyond the classroom, will
be actively embraced by our school. Developing a love of learning is
central to student success. Every one of our teaching programs will be
designed to enhance the experience of learning. It is this learning
perspective that will ensure that our children add value to the school
and their future years during their stay with us.
Importantly, we aim to be leaders in education. Information
technology, primary to secondary transition and the performing and
visual arts are just some of the areas in which our teachers and
students will shine.
The home and school partnership is recognised as central to individual
growth. At Laurimar, we welcome and are committed to active
participation of parents in what is happening at the school, and will
continually seek assistance from parents in classroom and school
programs. By working together we know that we can achieve a much
higher level of success for all students. As a community school we
will be dedicated to building strong community relationships, positive
student achievements, supportive working environment and seeking out
new knowledge to further support the thinking skills and creativity of
our vibrant learning community. The school will become a focus in the
new and rapidly growing area of Laurimar.
This school website has a dual purpose. Firstly, it is a resource for
new families considering school enrolment for their children.
Secondly, it is a detailed source of information for parents and
students who are already members of the Laurimar Primary School
community.
I sincerely hope that any association you might have with our new
school is a happy and rewarding one for both the school and your family.
Once again, welcome to our school community.
