Our Preps are Little Learners
Our Preps love the 'Little Learners Love Literacy®' program. It is all about teaching Reading and Spelling in a clear and structured way. We believe that children learn best when they are taught step-by-step, starting with simple concepts and gradually moving to more complex ones. This approach is called explicit teaching.
In our program, teachers follow a structured plan, guiding students through each step of the learning process. Each week, our teaching model follows this pattern:
-
We start by reviewing & revising previously learned sounds and words using Speed Sounds and Chants.
-
We determine what new skill or concept needs to be taught next, based on teaching sequence and assessments.
-
We plan activities and games to help children practice and master the new skill, using our program's resources.
-
Children apply their new knowledge by reading decodable stories and practicing independent writing.
-
We regularly assess children's progress to track their development and group them accordingly.
