Northern Territory, 2025

Our group of 20 students and 4 staff embarked on an incredible 7-night, 8-day journey to Darwin and the Northern Territory, filled with vibrant city experiences, stunning natural wonders, and personal growth. This trip was a perfect blend of adventure, culture, and bonding under the endless Territory sunshine.

The adventure began in Darwin, where the group explored the city. A visit to the Darwin Military Museum and WWII Oil Storage Tunnels offered a deep dive into the region’s wartime history. The Royal Flying Doctor Service base showcased the vital work of this outback medical service. For some fun, the Darwin Waterfront’s wave pool provided splashes and smiles galore.

The journey ventured into the wilds of the Northern Territory. Litchfield National Park wowed with its waterfalls, ideal for refreshing swims. Edith Falls in Nitmiluk National Park offered serene plunge pools, while a Nitmiluk Gorge boat cruise revealed dramatic landscapes. Kakadu National Park, a cultural and natural treasure, captivated everyone. The Yellow Waters cruise showcased wetlands buzzing with wildlife, and the Jumping Croc Tour on the Adelaide River delivered thrills as crocodiles leaped from the water.

A standout moment was the sunset at Ubirr in Kakadu. As Mrs. Sampson shared, “Ubirr lookout was a highlight for me. We were there at sunset and I felt like we were on top of the world. It highlighted the amazing land we were surrounded by and was a real peaceful and grounding time for all of us.” The ancient rock art and breathtaking views left a lasting impression. The trip was transformative for the students. Initially quiet, they grew in confidence, leading hikes, making new friends, and mastering tasks like tent setup. Mrs. Sampson noted, “Sing a longs on the bus were also a lot of fun this year too! And seeing the confidence of the kids grow as the week went on. They are always a bit quiet at the start, but by half way through we had students leading our hikes, making new friends, working together to put up and pack up tents and consistently stepping out of their comfort zones! Always a pleasure to see!!” These moments of camaraderie and courage defined the journey.

Delicious meals and endless sunshine kept spirits high throughout the adventure. From cultural immersion to thrilling experiences, this trip was a remarkable journey of discovery and connection in Australia’s amazing Northern Territory.
